Pakistan’s permanent representative to United Nations (UN) Munir Akram on Tuesday, said that Pakistan is not a weak state and will not recognize Israel due to its principle stance.
In a statement, Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN Munir Akram reiterated country’s principle stance to not recognize Israel and establish diplomatic relations due to illegal occupation of Palestinian territory by Israel.
Munir Akram underscored that in recent times certain countries have recognized and normalized relations with Israel. However, Pakistan is not a weak state and will not follow in the footsteps of such nations, he said.
He reiterated Pakistan’s continuous support and principle stance to the people of Palestine and their due right to self-determination as guaranteed by international laws and conventions.
United Arab Emirates, Sudan are amongst the countries that have normalize their relations with Israel in a deal brokered by United States.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on August 19th had categorically denied rumors suggesting that Pakistan intends to recognize and normalize relations with Israel.
“Our stance is clear, our stance was clearly defined by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 1948. We will never recognize Israel until Palestinians are given their right to a just settlement as per the two-nation theory,” said PM Imran Khan.
