Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said that Pakistan is already facing second wave of COVID-19 coronavirus.
Addressing a press-briefing in Islamabad on Tuesday, SAPM Dr Faisal Sultan revealed that the country is experiencing its second COVID-19 wave.
A few weeks ago, only 400-500 COVID-19 cases were being reported on a daily basis, whereas now the daily tally has surged up to 700-750 coronavirus cases, said Dr Faisal Sultan.
The COVID-19 positivity ratio has increased to 2.5 per cent, he added.
Dr Faisal Sultan highlighted that people are not strictly abiding to COVID-19 SOPs and preventive measures which is the primary factor behind surge in coronavirus cases.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 329,375 cases with 6,745 deaths so far. A total of 773 cases along with six casualties were reported in the last 24 hours.
A total of 311,440 people have recovered from the novel virus in Pakistan, whereas 4,317,678 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
