Lawrence H Summer – Professor and President Emeritus at Harvard and former Director of the NEC for President Obama, has claimed that adopting Pakistan’s strategy against COVID-19 would have saved US$ 10 trillion for the United States.
Expressing his views while speaking on a prime time television show on CNN hosted by Fareed Zakaria, Lawrence H Summer contended that United States has effectively failed in duly containing and tackling COVID-19 pandemic resulting in severe economic repercussions for the national economy.
Lawrence H Summers who is also a Charles W. Eliot Professor and President Emeritus at Harvard, said that if United States had handled the pandemic as well as Pakistan, the country would have saved around US$10 trillion.
Former Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) to PM Imran Khan on Digital Pakistan took to social media to highlight Pakistan’s success against COVID-19 being praised and acknowledged on a global level.
“Glad to see that the tireless efforts of so many heroes as part of the NCOC in the COVID19 response are being recognized the world over,” she tweeted.
It is pertinent to know that US has been the worst hit country due to COVID-19 coronavirus. The country has reported both the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world with a tally of 8.19 million cases and more than 220,000 casualties so far.
