The Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has announced its decision to establish underground water reservoirs to raise groundwater level in Lahore.
According to details, WASA plans to establish underground water reservoirs across Lahore aimed at preventing urban flooding and water inundation in the city after heavy rains.
The projects will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 billion and is aimed at increasing underground water level in the city.
The officials have identified 27 various spots across city that are severely affected by rains, whereas rain gauges have been installed in 16 different areas which include Jail Road, Gulberg, Lakshmi Chowk, Airport, Upper Mall, Mughalpura, Tajpura, Nishtar Town, Nolakha, Paniwala Talab, Farrukhabad, Gulshan Ravi, Iqbal Town, Samanabad, Johar Town and Punjab University.
Meanwhile, The Federal Flood Department has reiterated its commitment to support and ensure necessary funding required for the completion of the project.
As per the details, underground reservoirs will be constructed at Waris Road, Gaddafi Stadium, Ali Zeb Road, Gulberg, Railway Station, Chowk Nakhoda, Karim Park, Ravi Road, Sabzi and Fruit Mandi, Rasool Park, Tajpura and Kashmir Road.
