Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly elections are set to be held on November 15th
As per the details, President Arif Alvi has approved the summary regarding legislative assembly elections in Gilgit-Baltistan which are scheduled to be held on November 15th .
The development comes as earlier, the elections were scheduled to be held on August 18th but were postponed due to various issued due to COVID-19 crisis.
Prior to his, Federal government had announced its decision to give provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan via constitutional amendment.
The government intends to give full provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan via amendment in Article 1 and Article 51, along with further amendments in Articles 257 and Article 258 of the constitution of Pakistan.
The move will elevate the status of Gilgit-Baltistan and will ensure the provision of all constitutional rights, including its representation in the Senate and the National Assembly.
Meanwhile earlier, top military brass including C Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed had met with various parliamentary leaders to discuss administrative affairs pertaining to Gilgit-Baltistan region last week.
