Sindh government on Friday, allocated Rs 700 million for people affected by heavy rains and floods across the province.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday, chaired a meeting over matters pertaining to the prevalent flood situation in the province and its aftermath.
During the meeting CM Murad Ali Shah approved an Rs 700 million worth of grant to assist and provide relief to people affected by recent heavy rains and floods in the province.
The meeting was also attended by Murtaza Wahab, provincial Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Commissioner Karachi Sohail Rajput, Relief Commissioner Qazi Shahid Parvez Administrator KMC Iftikhar Shallwani, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqi and other senior officials.
CM highlighted that people in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar and Badin have been extensively affected by heavy rains and floods.
Commissioner provincial Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah noted that Department of Livestock has already set up their camps in various areas including Malir, Surjani, Badin, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Tharparkar.
Furthermore, Commissioner Karachi also briefed CM Murad Ali Shah on the building collapse incident in Karachi’s Allahwala Town, Korangi. He revealed that the building was not approved by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and it was built on a 80-yard plot which was then bifurcated into two 40-yard plots each.
Additionally, Murad Ali Shah was also briefed on the city’s drainage system that out the 194 choked drainage lines in the metropolis, 154 have been cleared.
It is to be noted that Sindh this year has witnessed a record amount of heavy rains resulting in extensive flooding across the province.
More than 500,000 villages in the province have been severely damaged due to floods, leaving a large number of people being left stranded in various areas that are inundated in water.
