Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has strongly condemned the publishing of blasphemous caricatures by French magazine Charlie Hebdo.
In a video statement, FM Qureshi strongly denounced and condemned the publishing of blasphemous cartoons by Charlie Hebdo magazine.

“On behalf of the government of Pakistan I strongly condemn French magazine Charlie Hebdo,” he said.
The caricatures published by Charlie Hebdo has hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Muslims around the world he added.
“We are witnessing a worldwide trend of Islamophobia, racism and xenophobia,” he noted.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the right of freedom of speech does not allow the provision of license to hurt others’ religious sentiments and beliefs.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged a global effort to address this issue and discourage such incidents that have angered Muslims across the globe.
Government of Pakistan has apprised French government of its reservations pertaining to the publishing of blasphemous content, said Qureshi.
The development comes as French magazine Charlie Hebdo republished blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) that were first published back in 2015.
The publication had resulted severe public uproar among Muslims around the world and eventually led to a deadly shooting incident targeting the French magazine’s office in Paris, France.
