An Indian national is under trial in Germany over spying allegations on the behest of Indian government.
Balvir S, a 54-year old Indian national on Tuesday, went on trial in Frankfurt Germany over allegations of spying for Indian government.

The suspect is accused of working for Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and spying on Sikh and Kashmiris living in Germany.
According to German prosecutors the suspect gained information about Kashmir movement and Sikh opposition movement who have been opposing Indian policies in Jammu and Kashmir and Indian Punjab respectively.
The suspect passed the information to his handlers in Indian consulate general in Frankfurt, said the German officials.
Meanwhile 10 court hearings are scheduled before the regional superior court and the trial is scheduled to be concluded on October 29th this year.
It is pertinent to know that an Indian couple was convicted by the same court over spying allegations in December 2019 last year.
The husband was sentenced to 18 months in prison for spying for a foreign government, meanwhile the wife was fined 180 days’ of her wage for aiding and abetting her husband in the crime.
