Sohail Rajput has been appointed as the new Commissioner Karachi replacing Iftikhar Shallwani on Tuesday (today).
Sindh government has replaced Iftikhar Shallwani and has appointed Sohail Rajput as the new Commissioner Karachi on Tuesday, with the former being posted as Secretary Local Government.
“Dr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, an officer of PAS (BS-21), Commissioner Karachi Division is transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders as Secretary Local Government and Housing Town Planning Department,” said the notification issued by Services, General Administration and Coordination Department Government of Sindh.
“Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput, an officer of PAS (BS-21) is posted with immediate effect and until further orders as Commissioner Karachi Division,” read the second notification issued by Sindh government.
Dr Sohail Rajput joined the civil service in 1991 and was serving at the post of additional secretary at the Ministry of Finance.
He has also served at the posts of secretary local government Sindh board, secretary finance Sindh, Commissioner Hyderabad Division and principal secretary to Chief Minister Sindh.
The development comes as earlier, Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh was arrested from the premises of Sindh High Court (SHC) a day earlier after his bail plea was rejected in illegal land allotment case.
