The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), on Friday, announced to extend its ban on widely popular online game PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG).
The regulatory authority took to social media to announce that it has decided to extend the ban on PUBG after a detailed hearing on the issue in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on July 9.
“PTA has decided that online game Players’ Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG) remains blocked,” read the statement issued on social media.

Furthermore, PTA has stated that it has reached out to PUBG management to apprise the regulatory body regarding of the data, statistics and details of its users and outreach in the country.
“Response from PUBG is awaited,” said the PTA.
The development comes as earlier, PTA on July 1, had temporarily banned PUBG citing various complaints received by the regulatory authority regarding the game’s negative mental side effects.
“PTA has received numerous complaints against PUBG wherein it is stated that the game is addictive, wastage of time and poses serious negative impact on physical and psychological health of children,” it said.
