Around 120 new accountability courts are set to be established on the orders of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
During the hearing of the case regarding illegal appointments in a coal mining plant, Supreme Court Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed expressed his disappointment over the performance of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The top judge reprimanded NAB over its failure to conclude cases within the 30-day official time limit and the fact that there are cases that have been pending for around 20 years.

CJ Gulzar Ahmed has directed the establishment of 120 new accountability courts within four months to address the issue of pending cases and ease the burden on current courts.
Meanwhile, the court has summoned attorney-general, prosecutor-general and law secretary to appear before the court at the next hearing regarding this issue.
