Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, on Saturday, revealed that dead bodies of 64 victims of PK-8303 crash have been handed over to relative families for burial and funeral processions.
CM Murad Ali Shah noted that out of the 64 dead bodies, 25 were identified via DNA testing as the most of the victims’ bodies have been burned beyond recognition.
“22 bodies have been kept in Edhi morgue while 11 in Chippa morgue,” he added.
Furthermore, Shah also reaffirmed that officials at Karachi University (KU) forensic lab are utilizing all the available resources to complete the DNA verification and identification process as soon as possible so that the victims’ dead bodies can be handed over to their families for burial.
It is to be noted that the flight PK-8303 crash investigation is underway by an inquiry committee comprising of PIA and CAA officials along with various other experts and representatives.
In addition to it, a team of French experts from Airbus has also visited crash site and the runway and has collected crucial evidence pertaining to the May 22 crash which killed 97 people. Meanwhile plane’s cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) have already been sent to France for decoding and analysis.
