The United Nations Peacekeeping Force, has lauded the commitment of Pakistan’s Major Samia Rehman’s to the UN Peacekeeping Force amid COVID-19 crisis.
Major Samia Rehman is a Pakistan army soldier who is stationed in Democratic Republic of Congo as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force there.
As per the details, she was due to come back to Pakistan on April 6, however she has been left stranded and is unable to come back to Pakistan due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
However, the adverse circumstances and being away from her daughter who’s back home in Pakistan, Major Samia’s commitment and resolve to her mission is undeterred.
Prior to this, Major Samia Rehman became the first female officer of the Pakistan Army to be selected for the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) certificate back in 2019.
It is to be noted that Pakistan’s female UN Peacekeepers were awarded medals at an award ceremony for their role in United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in DR Congo (MONUSCO), back in February.
Around 15 female officers between the ranks of major and captain, have been stationed in the war-torn country since June last year.
