Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Thursday, claimed that 19 districts of Punjab are COVID-19 free and the virus outbreak in the province is on decline.
Speaking to media in Sialkot, Dr Yasmin Rashid stated that coronavirus cases in the province are on decline and the virus outbreak is under control.
“The coronavirus outbreak is now under control. Nineteen districts of Punjab are now virus-free,” she noted.
Accompanied by Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs – Usman Dar, Dr Yasmin Rashid announced that a 200-bed hospital will be established in Sialkot as the government has approved the establishment of seven maternity hospitals across Punjab, and that PC-1 has already been approved for the construction of Maternity Hospital in Sialkot.
Expressing her views on the government policies regarding health sector, the provincial minister revealed that Punjab government has increased the salaries of healthcare workers including doctors and nurses.
Government has distributed more than 5 million health cards, which will be increased to 7 million and will eventually benefit 25-30 million people collectively, she added.
Punjab’s COVID-19 tally stands at 92,655 cases after 203 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, meanwhile provincial coronavirus death toll stands at 2,138 casualties so far.
