Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), on Friday, revealed that around 163 Pakistani citizens have died of COVID-19 abroad.
According to the details shared by FO spokesperson, the countries which have reported the deaths of Pakistani citizens due to coronavirus include United States, France and Italy.
Additionally, around 4.5 million Pakistani nationals are residing in Arab nations who are facing dire circumstances due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and lockdown as many of them have been ‘fired’ as a result of economic repercussions of coronavirus lockdown.
Around 13,000 Pakistani nationals are facing unemployment in United Arab Emirates (UAE) alone, said the spokesperson.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) along with few foreign airlines have been collaborating with Pakistan’s Foreign Office to repatriate stranded Pakistanis in various countries. According to FO, around 50,000 Pakistanis are expected to be repatriated from Middle East soon.
